New South China mall was projected as the world’s largest retailer, with the visitors / buyers can browse 1500 stores , a stroll along the canals of Venice or even artificial lunch in front of a 85 ft. replica of the Arc de Triomphe.

But New South China Mall, which opened in 2005, stood empty for 99 percent of the store can not be opened with roller coaster amusement attractions along the 553-meters at the indoor and outdoor unemployed. China has been hit hard by the global recession, and the city of Dongguan is known as the popularity of low-paid workers in the factory. The only area that opened in the mall near the entrance, where there is McDonalds.

Dick Groves, a retail consultant based in Hong Kong, said the failure of New South China Mall was down to lack of experience in the leasing business and financial system that is not discipline. ‘As easy to get financing without having to convince someone feasability of the project, and without having to show pre-leasing commitments, you can begin to get in trouble,  he told The National.

Around 500 new malls have been built in China during the last five years. All of them said they would wait for the middle class, China’s largest economic growth in the world before the global recession recently.
